by G. George | July 26, 2025

On July 16, 2025, ICE Washington, D.C. arrested Felix Nsatou, a citizen and national of the Republic of the Congo, following his identification as a removable illegal alien with an active criminal case in the United States. According to ICE, Nsatou is unlawfully present in the country and is currently facing a pending charge in the District of Columbia for impersonating a police officer.

The charge of impersonating a law enforcement officer is considered a serious offense in jurisdictions across the United States. It typically involves falsely representing oneself as a police officer with the intent to deceive or exert authority over others. In many cases, this crime is linked to efforts to manipulate, intimidate, or gain unauthorized access or control over individuals, making it a public safety concern. A conviction for such an offense may be classified as a crime involving moral turpitude, which can render a noncitizen inadmissible or removable under federal immigration law.

ICE has not released additional information regarding the date of Nsatou’s entry into the United States or whether he has any prior immigration or criminal history. However, his unlawful presence combined with the pending felony-level charge made him a priority for enforcement action. Nsatou was taken into ICE custody without incident and remains detained in Washington, D.C.

An immigration judge will determine the outcome of his removal proceedings based on his current immigration status and the nature of the criminal allegations. If convicted of impersonating a police officer, Nsatou may be permanently barred from returning to the United States.
