Fernando Munoz-Garcia/Mexico/Rape of a Child, DUI

by G. George | July 24, 2025

On July 16, 2025, ICE Seattle officers arrested Fernando Munoz-Garcia, a 45-year-old citizen of Mexico, near Yakima, Washington. Munoz-Garcia has two known criminal convictions: rape of a child in the third degree and driving under the influence. He is currently in ICE custody pending formal removal proceedings.

The rape of a child conviction is categorized as an aggravated felony and a deportable offense under U.S. immigration law, particularly when the victim is a minor. Such crimes mandate detention and bar individuals from nearly all forms of immigration relief. In addition, his DUI conviction reinforces a documented history of endangering others and violating the law.

While details of his entry into the United States remain undisclosed, ICE officials have confirmed that Munoz-Garcia was prioritized for arrest based on the seriousness of his offenses. He was taken into custody without incident and will remain detained through the duration of his immigration case.

Given the nature of his criminal conduct, Munoz-Garcia is unlikely to qualify for any legal status or protections. He will face an immigration judge who will determine the terms of his removal from the country. His deportation is expected upon conclusion of proceedings.
