ICE New Orleans arrested Francisco Choc-Chocoj, a citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien residing in the United States, during targeted enforcement actions focused on individuals whose criminal histories pose a threat to public safety and the integrity of immigration laws. Choc-Chocoj, 35, had been living in the country without lawful status and was apprehended following multiple encounters with local law enforcement for various offenses.

Choc-Chocoj’s criminal history includes a conviction for driving under the influence (DUI), an offense that significantly endangers the lives of other motorists and pedestrians. Law enforcement records show that during his DUI arrest, his blood alcohol content exceeded the legal limit, highlighting the risks posed by his impaired driving. His conviction underscores a pattern of disregard for public safety and responsible conduct.

In addition to DUI, Choc-Chocoj was charged with driving without a driver’s license, an offense reflecting his continued noncompliance with U.S. laws and regulations. He has also been cited for an implied consent violation, indicating that he refused to submit to chemical testing when lawfully requested by law enforcement during a traffic stop—an act often seen as an attempt to avoid further legal consequences. Further complicating his record, he has a charge for failure to appear in court, signaling a disregard for legal obligations and judicial processes.

At the time of his arrest, Choc-Chocoj was found to have no legal status in the United States and had not applied for any immigration relief that would allow him to remain. ICE officers apprehended him without incident, verified his identity, and placed him into removal proceedings. He is currently in ICE custody as authorities review his criminal background and immigration violations to determine the outcome of his case.
