Gerardo Cesar Ramirez-Garza/Mexico/Aggravated Assault With Deadly Weapon, Illegal Reentry, Gang Activity
ICE Homeland Security Investigations Rio Grande Valley arrested 33‑year‑old Mexican national and documented Sureños gang member Gerardo Cesar Ramirez‑Garza in McAllen on September 9. At the time, he was wanted on a state probation‑revocation warrant after violating probation by possessing narcotics.
Ramirez‑Garza originally entered the United States in 1992 on a nonimmigrant visa through the Rio Grande Valley but failed to depart as required. Between 2005 and 2010, he was arrested multiple times for assault causing bodily injury and was formally removed on February 24, 2010, via the Hidalgo Port of Entry before repeatedly making illegal reentries.
In April 2012, a Texas court convicted him of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced him to two years in the Huntsville federal prison system, underscoring his history of serious violence. After several more unlawful returns between 2014 and 2018, an immigration judge ordered him deported again on January 18, 2018, and he was removed through Brownsville. Ramirez‑Garza now faces a federal charge for illegal reentry after deportation and potential prison time followed by removal.
