Henry Wilfred Perez-Larios/Guatemala/Child Sex Abuse

In May 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Chicago arrested Henry Wilfred Perez-Larios, a Guatemalan national with a felony conviction in Cook County, Illinois, for sexually abusing a child under the age of 13. Perez-Larios, who is unlawfully present in the United States, was taken into ICE custody following his release from state prison.

The conviction stems from a 2021 case in which Cook County law enforcement determined that Perez-Larios had engaged in predatory criminal sexual behavior involving a minor child. After a full investigation and trial, he was convicted and sentenced to a custodial term in the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was also required to register as a sex offender.

ERO Chicago became aware of his immigration status during the course of his criminal case and lodged an immigration detainer with state authorities. Upon his release in 2025, ICE officers took custody of Perez-Larios without incident and transferred him to a secure federal detention facility in the Midwest.

At the time of his arrest, Perez-Larios had no valid immigration status and no pending applications for relief. He is currently undergoing removal proceedings before an immigration judge. Given the nature of his conviction, he remains in ICE custody throughout the process, and arrangements are being coordinated for his eventual repatriation to Guatemala.
