Hieu Van Tran/Vietnam/Cocaine Distribution, Domestic Assault, DWI
On July 30, 2025, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston arrested Hieu Van Tran, an illegal alien from Vietnam, in Winooski, Vermont. Tran, who has no lawful status in the United States, was taken into ICE custody following more than a decade of criminal conduct in the state of Vermont.
Between August 2013 and March 2024, Tran was convicted of 14 separate crimes, according to court records. His charges include disorderly conduct, driving while intoxicated, domestic assault, and distribution of cocaine. The criminal convictions span a wide range of violent and drug-related offenses, painting a long-standing pattern of lawlessness.
Tran’s domestic assault conviction involved a physical altercation with a household member that led to the victim requiring medical assistance. He also has multiple convictions for DWI, endangering both himself and others on the road. His most serious conviction, distribution of cocaine, resulted in a jail sentence and further placed him on ICE’s enforcement radar due to the threat posed by drug trafficking.
Tran was placed into ICE custody and issued a Notice to Appear before an immigration judge. He will remain in detention pending the outcome of his immigration case. ICE officials confirmed that his lengthy criminal history made him a priority for arrest and removal.
