Hugo Perez-Garza, 49, a citizen of Mexico and an illegal alien in the United States, was arrested by ICE officers following a series of serious criminal convictions and violations of federal immigration law. Perez-Garza has a significant criminal history, including convictions for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, as well as conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. These offenses underscore his direct involvement in drug trafficking activities within the U.S.

In addition to the narcotics-related crimes, Perez-Garza was also convicted of three separate counts of assault causing bodily injury. These violent offenses involved direct harm to individuals and contributed to his classification as a public safety threat. Due to this criminal record, Perez-Garza had previously been removed from the country.

Despite his prior deportation, Perez-Garza illegally reentered the United States, a felony under federal law. As a result, ICE is pursuing new charges of illegal reentry. His continued violations of U.S. laws and disregard for prior removal orders further solidify his placement in high-priority enforcement status.

At the time of his arrest, Perez-Garza had no legal status to remain in the country and no pending immigration relief. He is currently in ICE custody and will remain detained pending the outcome of removal proceedings. Federal prosecutors are expected to file additional charges related to his unlawful reentry into the United States.
