Ivan Melendez/Honduras/Aggravated Assault
Ivan Melendez, 38, a citizen of Honduras, was arrested by ERO New Orleans as part of targeted enforcement actions focusing on criminal aliens with serious felony convictions. Melendez has an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for delivery of methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Court documents show that Melendez was previously apprehended after undercover law enforcement operations revealed his direct involvement in narcotics trafficking. He was found to have sold significant quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine on multiple occasions. These controlled substance transactions occurred in proximity to schools and residential areas, heightening the severity of the charges brought against him.
In addition to drug trafficking, Melendez was also convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. That case involved threatening an individual with a firearm during a confrontation related to narcotics dealings. Law enforcement reports confirm that Melendez has a documented history of violence and disregard for public safety.
ICE took Melendez into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, he had no lawful status in the United States and had not presented any valid immigration documentation. He is currently detained and pending removal proceedings before an immigration judge. Given his criminal background and repeated felonies, ICE has prioritized his case for removal.
