ICE New Orleans deported Jairon Najera, a citizen of Guatemala and illegal alien, following the completion of his criminal sentence in the United States. Najera was convicted of human trafficking, a serious offense involving the exploitation and control of individuals through force, fraud, or coercion. Court records show that his criminal conduct was severe enough to warrant a 10-year prison sentence, reflecting the gravity of the crimes committed and the lasting harm caused to the victims.

Human trafficking cases often involve multiple layers of exploitation, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, and the restriction of a person’s freedom for financial gain. In Najera’s case, his conviction stemmed from activities that placed vulnerable individuals in dangerous and abusive circumstances, depriving them of safety, autonomy, and lawful rights.

After serving his decade-long sentence in a U.S. correctional facility, Najera was transferred directly to ICE custody to begin removal proceedings. Federal immigration authorities coordinated his deportation to Guatemala, where he remains a citizen. By law, individuals convicted of aggravated felonies such as human trafficking are subject to mandatory removal from the United States upon completion of their criminal sentences.

Najera’s return to Guatemala concludes his presence in the U.S., ensuring he can no longer exploit or victimize individuals within the country’s borders. His removal reflects the legal consequences faced by foreign nationals who engage in egregious criminal conduct while unlawfully present in the United States.
