Jaren Zuniga-Crus/Mexico/Driving Under the Influence

by G. George | June 10, 2026

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Jaren Zuniga-Crus in Caldwell, Idaho. The Mexico national — here illegally — faces charges of driving under the influence, unlawful reentry.

Local law enforcement and federal immigration enforcement have coordinated on DUI arrests involving illegal aliens as part of broader public safety initiatives. For Zuniga-Crus, the impaired driving charge will be handled through the state court system, while a separate federal immigration removal proceeding moves forward in parallel. A DUI conviction at the state level carries its own penalties, but regardless of the criminal outcome, the immigration court will independently evaluate whether removal to Mexico is ordered.

Federal authorities have placed Zuniga-Crus in immigration detention pending the outcome of removal proceedings. A Department of Justice immigration court will determine whether Zuniga-Crus is deported to Mexico.
