Javier Leyva-Morales/Mexico/Attempted Smuggling

On February 4, 2025, ICE Arizona lodged an immigration detainer on Javier Leyva-Morales, a Mexican national with an outstanding federal warrant for Attempted Smuggling of Goods from the U.S. On February 3, 2025, Arizona Department of Public Safety encountered Leyva-Morales while driving a stolen vehicle and it was discovered he was in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Leyva-Morales resisted arrest and assaulted the arresting officers. Leyva-Morales has a criminal history of illegal entry where he was sentenced to 30 days imprisonment.

Leyva-Morales was booked into state and local custody, and an immigration detainer was placed.
