Jesus Acuna/Cuba/Fraud

Jesus Acuna, a 39-year-old illegal alien and citizen of Cuba, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans as part of a targeted enforcement effort aimed at identifying individuals engaged in immigration-related fraud. Acuna has a criminal history that includes a conviction for conspiracy to commit marriage fraud and a separate conviction for immigration document fraud.

According to court records, Acuna participated in a scheme designed to exploit U.S. immigration processes by entering into a fraudulent marriage for the purpose of obtaining lawful permanent residence. Investigators determined the relationship was not bona fide and had been orchestrated solely to circumvent immigration laws. In addition to the sham marriage, Acuna submitted false documentation in support of his application, leading to the second fraud charge.

Federal agents uncovered the scheme during an ongoing investigation into marriage fraud rings operating across multiple states. Acuna pleaded guilty to the charges and served time in federal custody before being transferred to ICE. Because of the nature of his offenses and his immigration status, he is now considered a priority for removal.

Acuna entered the United States unlawfully and has no legal grounds to remain. ICE officers took him into custody without incident. He will remain in detention while his case moves forward through immigration proceedings.
