Jesus Guzman-Morales/Mexico/Drug Possession with Intent to Distribute

by G. George | June 12, 2025

Jesus Guzman-Morales, a 26-year-old citizen of Mexico, was arrested by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Denver following his release from prison. Guzman-Morales had just completed an eight-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, a serious felony conviction stemming from a drug trafficking case in Colorado. The offense involved large quantities of controlled substances, and court records show he had been under investigation for operating within a broader distribution network.

After serving his sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections, Guzman-Morales was immediately taken into ICE custody on an immigration detainer lodged during his incarceration. He is unlawfully present in the United States and has no legal status to remain in the country.

This is not Guzman-Morales’s first encounter with immigration authorities. Records show that he previously entered the United States illegally and had prior interactions with law enforcement before the major drug conviction. ICE officials have confirmed that his case qualifies for expedited removal based on the severity of his criminal record and his unlawful presence.

He is currently detained at the Aurora Contract Detention Facility, where he will remain pending immigration proceedings before an immigration judge. ICE has initiated the legal process to finalize his removal from the United States.
