Johnny Kelvin Paz-Tabora/Honduras/Assault with a Deadly Weapon
ICE Los Angeles HSI Integrated Operations Group arrested Johnny Kelvin Paz-Tabora, a 44-year-old citizen of Honduras, on August fourteen. According to arrest records, he faces a state charge for assault with a deadly weapon. This is an arrest, not a conviction; the allegation will be adjudicated in the appropriate criminal court under the applicable burden of proof. He was transferred to immigration custody following the arrest and is being held pending removal proceedings.
Assault with a deadly weapon is charged when a person intentionally or knowingly uses or exhibits a weapon in a manner capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. Investigations in such cases typically rely on victim and witness statements, medical documentation, photographs of injuries, and officer reports describing how the weapon was used or displayed. Where available, evidence may also include recovery of the weapon, forensic testing, and body camera or surveillance footage that captures the incident and supports the elements of the offense.
During intake at the ICE facility, officers completed biometric identity verification, documented immigration history, and compiled certified arrest paperwork for presentation in immigration court. Paz-Tabora will remain detained while his case proceeds before an immigration judge, where issues of removability and custody are addressed separately from the state criminal matter. The criminal and immigration processes move on independent tracks; any outcome in the state case will be reflected in the immigration record but determined by the criminal court.
If a final order of removal is issued, officials will coordinate travel documentation with the receiving government and arrange transportation in accordance with federal procedures. Until then, custody determinations follow federal statute and applicable regulations.
