Jonathan Castillo-Yanez, a 34-year-old citizen of Honduras and confirmed member of the 18th Street Gang, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans following a targeted enforcement action. Castillo-Yanez has a criminal record that includes convictions for possession of stolen property, aggravated assault, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and resisting arrest. His pattern of criminal behavior and known gang affiliation made him a priority for immigration enforcement.

Castillo-Yanez originally entered the United States illegally at an unknown time and location. Over the years, he has established a criminal history across multiple jurisdictions, raising significant concerns about public safety. His involvement with the violent 18th Street Gang further elevated the threat level associated with his presence in the U.S.

After coordination with local law enforcement and federal agencies, Castillo-Yanez was taken into custody without incident and processed for removal. Immigration authorities also verified that Castillo-Yanez had no lawful immigration status in the U.S. and had previously been encountered by immigration officials, though not removed at that time.

ERO New Orleans is pursuing formal removal proceedings, and Castillo-Yanez will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his immigration case. His arrest is part of continued enforcement efforts focused on removing gang-affiliated individuals with serious criminal histories.
