Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Boston arrested Jorge Garcia-Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from Cuba, on December 3. ICE identified him as a habitual criminal offender with multiple serious charges, including the rape of a child under 16, assault and battery, and possession and distribution of a controlled substance on school property.

According to ICE officials, Garcia-Hernandez was taken into custody as part of an enforcement action targeting repeat offenders posing a threat to public safety. An ICE spokesman stated, “This arrest demonstrates our continued efforts to protect communities from dangerous individuals who repeatedly violate U.S. laws.”

Garcia-Hernandez remains in federal custody while facing both criminal prosecution and possible deportation proceedings. ICE officials noted that crimes involving minors and drugs near schools are treated with heightened severity under federal law. The agency continues working with local authorities as the investigation proceeds.
