Jorge Martinez Duenas/Honduras/Child Abuse
On March 3, 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Hartford arrested Jorge Martinez Duenas, a 44-year-old Honduran national unlawfully present in the United States. Martinez Duenas was taken into custody in Connecticut following a criminal investigation that resulted in multiple charges related to child endangerment and abuse.
Local law enforcement authorities had charged Martinez Duenas with several offenses after receiving reports that he had subjected a minor to ongoing mistreatment in a domestic setting. The investigation revealed evidence of physical and emotional abuse, prompting formal charges and an arrest warrant. ICE officers became involved after confirming his undocumented status and determining that he had no pending applications for lawful immigration relief.
Martinez Duenas was arrested without incident during a targeted enforcement operation. Following his apprehension, he was transported to a secure ICE detention facility in the region, where he remains in federal custody pending the outcome of both his criminal and immigration cases.
ICE has confirmed that Martinez Duenas had previously entered the country without inspection and has no legal basis to remain in the United States. An immigration judge is expected to begin formal removal proceedings while he simultaneously faces prosecution in Connecticut courts for the child endangerment-related charges.
Due to the nature of the offenses and his immigration status, Martinez Duenas will remain detained throughout the duration of his case.
