Jose Aguilar Pozos, a Mexico national living in the country illegally, was taken into custody by ICE agents in Omaha, Nebraska, on charges of receiving stolen property.

The charges carry serious criminal penalties under state law and, for illegal aliens, simultaneously trigger federal immigration enforcement. Pozos’s arrest has initiated both a state criminal prosecution and a federal removal proceeding that will move forward on an independent timeline, with outcomes determined separately.
