Jose Dolores Lovo-Sanchez/El Salvador/Illegal Reentry

Jose Dolores Lovo-Sanchez, a citizen of El Salvador, has been apprehended and charged following repeated violations of U.S. immigration law. Lovo-Sanchez had previously been convicted under 8 U.S. Code § 1325, which pertains to unlawful entry into the United States. That conviction stemmed from his illegal crossing into the U.S. without inspection, admission, or parole by a U.S. immigration officer.

Despite his prior conviction and removal, Lovo-Sanchez again reentered the United States unlawfully. His most recent arrest led to the filing of new federal criminal charges under 8 U.S. Code § 1326, which makes it a felony offense for any previously removed alien to reenter, attempt to reenter, or be found in the United States without permission. Reentry after removal carries far more severe penalties than initial unlawful entry and can result in a federal prison sentence.

He was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations and processed accordingly, with ICE agents coordinating with federal prosecutors for referral to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Lovo-Sanchez is currently in ICE custody and has been referred for federal prosecution. Upon resolution of the criminal case, he may face additional removal proceedings. His case serves as an example of the legal consequences tied to repeat immigration violations, especially after formal deportation.
