Jose Donaldo Mejia-Vallecio/Honduras/Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

In May 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Denver arrested Jose Donaldo Mejia-Vallecio, a 54-year-old Honduran national with a significant criminal history and no lawful immigration status in the United States. Mejia-Vallecio was taken into custody following coordination between local and federal authorities after his most recent parole violation.

Mejia-Vallecio’s criminal record includes a conviction for aggravated assault with a weapon, a serious offense involving violence that led to his initial incarceration. After serving time for that conviction, he was released on parole, which he subsequently violated, triggering additional legal consequences. His history of noncompliance with court-ordered supervision and prior illegal re-entry into the U.S. after removal elevated him as a priority for immigration enforcement.

He was previously removed from the United States but reentered illegally, violating federal immigration laws. ICE officers tracked and arrested him in Colorado on May 23 after he was released from state custody. At the time of arrest, Mejia-Vallecio did not have any pending immigration applications or protections and had reentered the country without inspection or authorization.

He is currently detained at an ICE facility and has been placed in removal proceedings. Due to the severity of his prior convictions and history of re-entry, ICE has initiated coordination with Honduran authorities for his repatriation following the conclusion of legal procedures.
