Jose Gamez-Barajas/Mexico/False Claim to Citizenship, Robbery, Drug Possession, Domestic Violence
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Denver arrested Jose Gamez-Barajas, a 53-year-old illegal alien and citizen of Mexico, in July 2025. Gamez-Barajas has an extensive criminal history that spans multiple states and includes both immigration-related and violent offenses.
According to ICE records, Gamez-Barajas was charged with domestic violence by local authorities in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Additionally, he has multiple prior convictions including robbery, possession of controlled substances, and making a false claim to U.S. citizenship—an offense considered a serious immigration violation that permanently bars legal immigration benefits.
ICE officials located and arrested Gamez-Barajas following a targeted enforcement operation based on his criminal record and prior immigration violations. He was taken into custody without incident and will remain detained pending the outcome of his immigration case. Due to the severity of his offenses and his violation of federal immigration law, he is ineligible for bond.
Gamez-Barajas has been placed into removal proceedings and served with a notice to appear before an immigration judge. His prior offenses and false citizenship claim will weigh heavily against him as the court determines whether he should be deported from the United States.
