Jose Mus Coy, a 38-year-old citizen of Guatemala, was deported by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans following the completion of a prison sentence stemming from a conviction related to child exploitation. Mus Coy had been convicted in a U.S. court for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – Material – Film. The conviction involved the possession and distribution of explicit material depicting the abuse of children, a serious felony offense under both federal and state laws. He was sentenced to two years in prison for this crime.

Following his conviction, Mus Coy was transferred to ICE custody upon completion of his sentence. He was identified as a priority for removal due to the nature of his offense, which qualifies as an aggravated felony and sexual crime against a child under immigration law. After confirming his Guatemalan citizenship and lack of lawful status in the United States, ICE officials initiated deportation proceedings.

On the scheduled date of removal, Mus Coy was transported under escort and repatriated to Guatemala, where he was turned over to local authorities. ICE officials coordinated with foreign counterparts to ensure his removal was conducted in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.
