Jose Ortega Ramirez/Mexico/Child Pornography
On January 28, 2025, ICE Philadelphia arrested Jose Ortega Ramirez, a citizen of Mexico.
Ortega has been convicted of possession with intent to distribute and aid and abet another or others in possessing with intent to distribute a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine and possession of child pornography and sentenced to 90 months incarceration.
Similar to Ramirez, on February 5, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York arrested 39-year-old Mexican national Luis Alberto Mendoza during a targeted operation in Brooklyn. Mendoza had unlawfully reentered the United States after a prior deportation and was identified as a high-priority target due to his criminal history.
According to federal records, Mendoza was previously convicted in New York State for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and for possession of child pornography. These convictions resulted in a combined sentence of 84 months in state prison. After serving his sentence, Mendoza was deported to Mexico but reentered the U.S. without authorization. ICE officers located him during a routine enforcement action and took him into custody without incident.
Upon arrest, Mendoza was issued an I-871 Notice of Intent/Decision to Reinstate Prior Order of Removal, citing his previous deportation and illegal reentry as violations of the Immigration and Nationality Act. He is currently detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in New Jersey, pending removal proceedings. Due to the severity of his criminal convictions and repeated immigration violations, Mendoza is considered a high-priority case for enforcement and removal.
