Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umana
Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umana/El Salvador/Suspected Murder, Gang Affiliation
In July 2025, ICE Dallas arrested Juan Carlos Hernandez-Umana, a 36-year-old illegal alien and citizen of El Salvador, in Texas. Hernandez is a suspected member of the violent 18th Street gang and is currently under investigation for the suspected murder of his wife in Irving, Texas. He was previously removed from the United States on May 25, 2014, but unlawfully reentered at an unknown date and location.
ICE took Hernandez into custody based on his prior removal order and the severity of his suspected criminal activity. Local law enforcement in Irving is actively investigating the homicide case, and ICE is coordinating with those authorities to ensure full accountability. His gang affiliation and alleged involvement in a domestic homicide place him among ICE’s highest enforcement priorities.
The 18th Street gang is known for its transnational criminal activity, including violence, drug trafficking, and extortion. Hernandez’s association with the gang significantly heightens the danger he poses to the public, and his history of illegal reentry further demonstrates a clear disregard for U.S. immigration laws.
Hernandez is currently in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings. Due to his criminal background, suspected gang ties, and ongoing homicide investigation, he is ineligible for most forms of immigration relief and is expected to be removed following due process.
