Juan Hudgson-Cardozo/Columbia/Aggravated Assault
Juan Hudgson-Cardozo, a 30-year-old citizen of Colombia, was arrested in Salt Lake City by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Salt Lake City Field Office. Hudgson-Cardozo is illegally present in the United States and was taken into custody due to his prior criminal conviction and immigration status.
Hudgson-Cardozo’s criminal history includes a conviction for aggravated assault stemming from an incident in St. George, Utah. Local authorities prosecuted the case, which resulted in a conviction under Utah state law. The conviction was identified by ICE as a qualifying factor for enforcement action, and agents located and arrested Hudgson-Cardozo during a targeted operation focused on individuals posing potential threats to the community.
Following his arrest, Hudgson-Cardozo was processed and issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge. ICE confirmed that he will remain in federal custody throughout the course of his immigration proceedings. Due to the seriousness of the assault charge and his lack of legal status, bond was not granted in his case.
Hudgson-Cardozo’s case is being reviewed as part of ICE’s ongoing enforcement strategy to prioritize the arrest and removal of noncitizens with serious criminal convictions. He will be held at an ICE detention facility pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.
