Juan Nieves/Mexico/Sexual Assault

On February 5, 2025, ICE officers in Houston County, Texas, arrested Juan Nieves, a 36-year-old Mexican national with a record of multiple serious criminal convictions. Nieves had been previously convicted of sexual assault involving a child, obstructing police, and driving under the influence. Following his release from state custody, he was taken into ICE detention for removal proceedings.

Nieves originally entered the U.S. unlawfully and accumulated a criminal history that included violent and sexual offenses. ICE’s Denver field office initiated enforcement action based on his convictions and immigration status. He had not obtained lawful status in the United States and had been identified as a priority due to the severity of his crimes.

Following his arrest, Nieves was transferred to an ICE facility where he awaits further proceedings related to his deportation.
