Similarly, Emerson Eduardo Ferreira, a 52-year-old Brazilian national, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on January 24, 2025, following his release from a Connecticut prison. Ferreira had been convicted on August 9, 2023, for sexual assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, and two counts of violating a protective order. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with the term suspended after four years served, followed by ten years of probation.
ICE had secured an immigration detainer for Ferreira in April 2024 and served him with a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. He had legally entered the United States in 1999.
Following his arrest, Ferreira was taken into ICE custody, where he remains as of February 12, 2025. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations acting Field Office Director Patricia H.
