Federal immigration authorities arrested criminal illegal alien Kaisar Nur in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, following multiple serious felony convictions. Nur, a Somali national, was previously convicted of robbery, several weapon-related offenses including possession and firing of a weapon, escape-related flight, and burglary under Minnesota law.

Robbery and burglary are classified as crimes of violence in Minnesota and can carry lengthy prison terms, especially when a dangerous weapon is used or implied. Weapon offenses and firing a weapon expose offenders to mandatory minimums if a firearm is involved, while escape or flight from custody is separately punishable as a felony when the person was originally held on a felony charge.

After his criminal cases concluded, Nur was transferred to federal immigration detention in Lino Lakes, where he remains while officials advance formal removal proceedings.
