Kamsoth Pet/Cambodia/Rape Of A Child, Assault And Battery On A Police Officer
Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Boston arrested Kamsoth Pet, a criminal alien from Cambodia, on December 1. The arrest resulted from an operation targeting foreign nationals with significant criminal records. Pet was taken into custody based on convictions for rape of a child, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
An ICE spokesman stated, “Enforcement actions against individuals convicted of crimes against children and law enforcement are critical to maintaining public safety.” Officials emphasized that the severity of his convictions, particularly those involving minors and violence against officers, prioritized him for enforcement action.
Pet is currently being held in federal custody while awaiting removal proceedings. ICE continues to coordinate with local agencies to identify and remove noncitizens who have violated U.S. criminal laws and pose threats to the community.
