Khone Sengmany

Khone Sengmany/Laos/Larceny

by G. George | March 26, 2026

Laos national Khone Sengmany was arrested in Hamilton, Michigan, after authorities linked him to a larceny from a building incident, a felony offense under Michigan law when property is stolen from within a structure open to or used by the public.

The charge alleges that Sengmany unlawfully took property belonging to another person from inside a building.

Larceny from a building in Michigan can be charged regardless of the value of the property taken, and prosecutors treat such cases more severely than simple thefts occurring outside a structure. Sengmany remains under local custody pending review of the case by prosecutors, who will determine whether additional charges or immigration-related actions are warranted based on the circumstances of the offense and his status as a Laotian national.
