Leonardo Ignot-Osto/Mexico/Abducting and Enticing a Child, Retail Theft, Illegal Reentry
On November 16, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Chicago arrested Leonardo Ignot‑Osto, a 40‑year‑old criminal illegal alien from Mexico. He has been convicted of abducting and enticing a child under the age of 17 and retail theft, offenses that prompted federal agents to take him into custody following his most recent criminal case.
According to immigration records, Ignot‑Osto has illegally entered the United States at least five times dating back to 2005. U.S. Border Patrol encountered him four times in 2005, and each time he accepted voluntary return to Mexico before reentering again and eventually committing the child‑related offenses in Illinois.
Ignot‑Osto is currently held in ICE custody pending removal proceedings, with officials citing both his repeated unlawful entries and his conviction for abducting and luring a minor as key reasons for prioritizing his deportation.
