Ludwin Quintero-Rojas/Columbia/Aggravated Theft
On May 9, 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Newark arrested Ludwin Quintero-Rojas, a 31-year-old Colombian national unlawfully present in the United States. Quintero-Rojas was taken into custody in New Jersey and is currently being held without bond at the Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark.
Quintero-Rojas is the subject of an active criminal warrant in Colombia, where authorities have charged him with aggravated theft and attempted theft with injury. The charges stem from a violent theft incident involving property damage and bodily harm. Colombian law enforcement officials notified U.S. authorities of the warrant, prompting ICE to initiate a targeted enforcement operation.
Following his arrest, ICE officers confirmed that Quintero-Rojas had entered the United States without authorization and had no pending applications for legal immigration status. He had not appeared in any U.S. immigration court proceedings prior to his apprehension.
ERO Newark placed him into removal proceedings, and he will remain in federal custody while those proceedings are pending. ICE officials have initiated coordination with Colombian authorities to ensure appropriate documentation and custody arrangements are made for his eventual return.
Quintero-Rojas’s case underscores ICE’s efforts to identify and detain foreign fugitives who attempt to evade justice by hiding within U.S. borders. He remains in ICE custody as his immigration case progresses.
