Luis Cano-Portocarrero, a citizen of Peru and an illegal alien in the United States, was deported by ICE New Orleans following his identification as a foreign fugitive. Peruvian law enforcement has an active arrest warrant for Cano-Portocarrero based on criminal charges involving possession of drugs and large-scale drug trafficking operations. According to international alerts, Cano-Portocarrero is accused of participating in the transport and sale of illicit narcotics within and beyond Peruvian borders.

ICE officers located Cano-Portocarrero in the U.S., where he had no legal immigration status and no pending applications for relief. After confirming his fugitive status with Peruvian authorities, ICE placed him into custody pending deportation proceedings. He was held at an ICE detention facility in Louisiana until his removal was completed.

ICE officers coordinated with Peruvian officials to ensure his repatriation and transfer to authorities upon arrival. Cano-Portocarrero was flown from the U.S. and turned over to Peruvian law enforcement immediately upon landing. His removal eliminates the presence of a known international drug trafficker from within the United States. He remains subject to ongoing legal proceedings in Peru in connection with the narcotics offenses.
