ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. arrested Mailon Moises Echeverria-Lopez, an illegal alien from Honduras and known member of the violent 18th Street Gang. Despite his gang affiliation, the D.C. Jail declined to honor an ICE detainer request and released him back into the community.

Echeverria-Lopez, who has a known history of gang involvement, was previously in custody but was released by local authorities. Following his release, ICE located and arrested him in the D.C. area. During the arrest operation, several protestors attempted to interfere with officers, resulting in the arrest of one individual who was charged accordingly.

Echeverria-Lopez is currently in ICE custody and will remain detained throughout his immigration proceedings. His known affiliation with a transnational criminal gang places him among ICE’s priorities for enforcement. ICE continues to pursue individuals involved in gang activity who are in the U.S. illegally, especially when local jurisdictions refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.
