In May 2025, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Riverside, working in collaboration with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Los Angeles, arrested Manuel Seberiano Garcia-Muñoz, a Mexican national who had unlawfully reentered the United States after being previously deported. Garcia-Muñoz was apprehended during a joint enforcement operation targeting criminal noncitizens with violent records and outstanding warrants.

Garcia-Muñoz had a prior felony conviction in California for assault with a deadly weapon. According to court records, the conviction stemmed from a 2019 incident in which he attacked a man during a street altercation using a blunt object, causing serious injury. He served time in state prison and was later deported in 2021. Despite the removal order, he illegally reentered the United States through the southwest border without inspection.

In addition to his prior conviction, Garcia-Muñoz is the subject of an active arrest warrant for battery. The outstanding charge is linked to a separate domestic violence incident reported in late 2024 in Riverside County. Upon his recent apprehension, ICE confirmed his identity and immigration status through biometric and criminal databases.

Following his arrest, Garcia-Muñoz was transferred to an ICE detention facility in Southern California. He is now facing federal prosecution for illegal reentry under 8 U.S.C. § 1326. If convicted, he could face additional prison time before deportation proceedings are executed. ICE has reinstated his prior order of removal.
