Marcos Hernandez/Mexico/Assault, Obstructing Police

Marcos Hernandez, a 44-year-old citizen of Mexico, was arrested by ICE San Diego officers due to his extensive criminal record and repeated violations of U.S. immigration law. Hernandez has multiple convictions in California, including assault and obstructing law enforcement. His record also includes a prior deportation followed by a subsequent conviction for illegal reentry into the United States.

Hernandez’s criminal history began with an assault conviction in which he was sentenced to jail time. Later, he was convicted of obstructing police during a separate incident where he resisted arrest and interfered with a public safety operation. Following these offenses, he was deported from the U.S. but returned unlawfully and was caught again, leading to another conviction for illegal reentry. Despite this, Hernandez continued to reside in the U.S. illegally and was taken into ICE custody after a recent public safety operation in Southern California.

At the time of his arrest, Hernandez was not in lawful immigration status and had no pending legal avenues for relief. He has now been placed in immigration detention while awaiting his removal proceedings. ICE officials confirmed that a detainer had been issued in coordination with local authorities to ensure custody was transferred directly upon release.
