Cruz Fernandez was apprehended in New Rochelle, New York, during a coordinated enforcement action that involved multiple federal agencies.
The arrest was carried out by ICE officers and special agents assigned to ICE’s Newburgh office, working in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Cruz Fernandez was taken into custody without incident pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued based on his status as a foreign fugitive.
According to information provided by Dominican authorities, Cruz Fernandez is the subject of an active arrest warrant in the Dominican Republic for his alleged involvement in a homicide case. Cruz Fernandez entered the United States without authorization and did not have any lawful immigration status at the time of his arrest.
