Miguel Carrillo
Miguel Carrillo/Guatemala/Aggravated Assault with a Weapon
ICE New Orleans deported Miguel Carrillo, a citizen of Guatemala. According to court records, Carrillo was convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon and received an eight month sentence for the offense. After completion of the criminal portion of the case, immigration authorities assumed custody based on his removability under federal law and began processing for repatriation.
Aggravated assault with a weapon is charged when a person intentionally or knowingly uses or displays a weapon in a manner capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. Prosecutions typically rely on victim statements, photographs of injuries, recovered weapons, and witness accounts describing how the weapon was used or exhibited. The felony designation reflects the elevated risk that accompanies weapon involvement, and sentences often include incarceration followed by supervision terms and orders that restrict contact with victims. Carrillo’s conviction and sentence were entered after the court found the elements proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
Removal procedures in this matter included biometric identity verification, collection of certified judgment and sentencing documents, and coordination of travel authorization with the Government of Guatemala. Once documentation was complete and travel scheduled, officers escorted Carrillo on a repatriation itinerary in accordance with transport protocols. Upon arrival overseas, he was transferred to Guatemalan authorities for any steps deemed appropriate under local law. With the deportation executed, the United States immigration case is closed as to custody, and the criminal judgment remains part of the permanent record for future admissibility determinations.
