Miguel Sifuentes Jimenez/Mexico/Possession of Methamphetamine and Firearms
On May 22, 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers removed Miguel Sifuentes Jimenez, a 36-year-old Mexican national with an extensive criminal record and a history of unlawful reentry into the United States. Sifuentes was turned over to Mexican authorities at the Stanton Street Bridge in El Paso, Texas, after being deported from the United States for a second time.
Sifuentes was first removed from the U.S. on January 28, 2013, following a final order of removal issued earlier that month. Despite this, he unlawfully reentered the country on May 3, 2021, by crossing the international boundary east of the Santa Teresa Port of Entry in New Mexico. The following day, he was processed under a reinstatement of his prior removal order and was presented for prosecution. After serving his sentence, he was released to the streets by the Luna County Detention Center in Deming, New Mexico.
His criminal history in the United States includes multiple convictions in California: felony robbery in 2008 (364-day sentence), misdemeanor aggravated battery against a spouse in 2009 (60-day sentence), and felony inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant in 2011 (two-year sentence). On May 12, 2025, he was encountered by ERO officers at the Eddy County Detention Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he was serving time for aggravated battery against a household member by strangulation or suffocation. ICE lodged a detainer and took him into custody the same day.
On May 13, Sifuentes was formally charged with alien inadmissibility and reentry after removal, classified as an aggravated felony. He remained in ICE custody until his deportation on May 22.
