Mohamad Hachem/Lebanon/Criminal Sexual Conduct
On May 27, 2025, Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Detroit removed Mohamad Hachem, a citizen of Lebanon, from the United States following his conviction for criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree. Hachem had been residing unlawfully in the U.S. and had previously been convicted in Michigan. Fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct under Michigan law typically involves unwanted sexual contact using force, coercion, or taking advantage of a victim who is mentally incapacitated or physically helpless. The conviction marked Hachem as a public safety threat under ICE enforcement guidelines.
After completing his sentence, Hachem was taken into ICE custody and detained at an immigration detention facility while awaiting the outcome of his removal proceedings. Following the issuance of a final order of removal by an immigration judge, Hachem was placed on a removal flight coordinated by ERO Detroit and transported back to Lebanon. Prior to his removal, ICE coordinated with Lebanese authorities to ensure Hachem would be received upon arrival.
This arrest and deportation followed standard procedures used in cases involving noncitizens with significant criminal histories. Hachem’s removal is one of several recent cases where individuals with sexual assault convictions have been prioritized for enforcement action under immigration law due to the severity of their offenses.
