ICE New Orleans deported Moises Mejia-Amaya, a citizen of El Salvador and an illegal alien previously residing in the United States, following coordinated efforts to remove individuals affiliated with violent transnational gangs. Mejia-Amaya, thirty-four, was apprehended as part of targeted enforcement operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks that pose a significant threat to public safety and national security.

Law enforcement and intelligence reports identify Mejia-Amaya as an active member of MS-13, one of the most notorious and violent criminal organizations operating in the Americas. MS-13 is widely known for its involvement in brutal crimes, including murder, extortion, human trafficking, and narcotics distribution. The gang uses violence and intimidation as tools of control, creating fear in communities where it operates and extending its influence both inside and outside correctional facilities. Officials describe its members as ruthless, often employing machetes and firearms to carry out violent assaults and eliminate perceived rivals.

Local law enforcement in El Salvador has issued a warrant for Mejia-Amaya’s arrest, citing his active participation in MS-13’s criminal activities. Authorities allege he was involved in orchestrating violent acts and coordinating operations aimed at expanding the gang’s territorial influence. His affiliation with MS-13 made him a high-priority target for ICE, as his continued presence in the United States posed a serious risk to community safety.

Upon confirmation of his identity and criminal associations, ICE officers carried out Mejia-Amaya’s removal without incident. He was transported to El Salvador, where he was handed over to local authorities for further investigation and prosecution. Due to his documented involvement with a designated transnational criminal organization, Mejia-Amaya is permanently barred from reentering the United States under federal law.
