On January 28, 2025, ICE Detroit/Cincinnati criminally arrested a Honduran national illegally present in the U.S., during a controlled substance investigation that was unlawfully in possession of a firearm equipped with a suppressor.
ICE lodged a detainer, and the subject will remain in ICE custody pending criminal prosecution for criminal charges related to firearm and narcotics possession. His named was not released.
In a similar case, on February 26, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Omaha, in coordination with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 33-year-old Marco Antonio Mejia, a Honduran national, in Nebraska. Mejia had unlawfully reentered the United States after a prior deportation and was previously convicted of being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. His arrest followed a tip submitted to local law enforcement, which led to a targeted investigation and enforcement action.
At the time of arrest, Mejia was found to be in possession of a firearm despite his prohibited status under federal law. He was taken into ICE custody without incident and transported to a secure detention facility. ICE lodged an immigration detainer to ensure he remains in custody throughout the pending legal process. Mejia faces federal charges related to illegal reentry and weapons possession. He currently remains detained and is awaiting prosecution and removal proceedings.
