On January 27, 2025, ICE Dallas arrested Nestor Alexander Cortez-Mejia (pictured), a citizen of El Salvador who is a previously deported alien. Cortez-Mejia is a confirmed MS-13 gang member who has criminal convictions in El Salvador for robbery and extortion.

In a similar case, on February 12, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Seattle arrested 47-year-old Jose Marin-Lozano, a citizen of El Salvador, during a targeted operation in Seattle, Washington. Marin-Lozano is the subject of multiple arrest warrants issued by Salvadoran authorities for aggravated homicide and conspiracy to commit aggravated homicide.

The first warrant was issued on September 21, 2020, followed by a second on June 9, 2021, in connection to violent offenses linked to organized criminal activity.

According to ICE, Marin-Lozano had previously been removed from the United States but unlawfully reentered at an unknown date and location without being inspected or admitted by an immigration officer.

His presence in the U.S. came to the attention of ICE through international law enforcement cooperation, which confirmed his status as a fugitive wanted for serious crimes in El Salvador.
