Oumar Ndiaye, a 24-year-old citizen of Mauritania, was arrested by officers with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Denver after authorities received a tip from a member of the local community. Ndiaye, who is unlawfully present in the United States, came to ICE’s attention following his involvement in a hit-and-run incident where he reportedly left the scene of a traffic accident without rendering aid or providing identification. Local law enforcement documented the incident, and shortly thereafter, the tip led to federal authorities identifying Ndiaye as the suspect.

Further investigation revealed that Ndiaye entered the U.S. without inspection or parole and has no legal authorization to remain in the country. ICE officers located him and conducted the arrest without incident. According to ICE officials, Ndiaye has no prior immigration history, but the public safety concern raised by his conduct prompted enforcement action.

He is currently detained at a secure ICE facility in Colorado while removal proceedings move forward. ICE lodged an immigration detainer to ensure he remains in custody while his case is processed through the immigration court system. Officials have stated that community tips remain an important tool in identifying individuals who pose risks and are in violation of federal immigration laws.
