Pedro Olea-Camacho, a 57-year-old citizen of Mexico and an illegal alien in the United States, was arrested by ICE Denver officers as part of targeted enforcement actions focused on noncitizens with serious criminal convictions. Olea-Camacho’s apprehension highlights ICE’s ongoing focus on removing individuals whose criminal records include offenses that pose direct threats to community safety, particularly those involving crimes against children.

Olea-Camacho has a conviction for indecent contact with a child, for which he was sentenced to two years in prison. Such crimes are viewed as among the most severe in both criminal and immigration contexts, given the profound harm inflicted on vulnerable victims and the broader threat posed to public safety. A conviction involving sexual misconduct with a minor is classified as an aggravated felony under U.S. immigration law, often triggering mandatory detention and expedited removal proceedings.

Following his release from prison, Olea-Camacho came to the attention of ICE due to his criminal history and unlawful presence in the country. ICE officers took him into custody to ensure he would not be released back into the community while his immigration case proceeds. Given the nature of his conviction, Olea-Camacho is highly unlikely to qualify for relief from removal, as U.S. immigration law imposes strict bars for individuals convicted of sexual offenses against minors.

He is currently being held in ICE custody pending the completion of his removal proceedings. His arrest underscores ICE’s enforcement priorities, which include apprehending and removing individuals who have committed crimes of violence or sexual offenses, especially those targeting children. Such actions aim to safeguard communities and uphold the integrity of U.S. immigration laws.
