On October 15, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago officers arrested Radule Bojovic, an illegal alien from Montenegro, during a targeted Operation Midway Blitz action in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Bojovic had recently been sworn in as a police officer for the Hanover Park Police Department in suburban Chicago.

Federal officials state that Bojovic entered the United States on a B‑2 visitor visa that required him to depart by March 31, 2015, but he overstayed by more than 10 years, making him unlawfully present. As an alien without lawful status, he is prohibited under federal law from owning or possessing firearms, even while serving in a local law enforcement role.

During the arrest, Bojovic presented his department employee identification card and confirmed his position as a Hanover Park officer but said he was not carrying a weapon because he is only issued a firearm while on duty. ICE subsequently took him into immigration custody, with agency leaders criticizing Illinois officials for policies they argue enable unlawful employment of non‑citizens in sworn police roles.
