Robyn Argote Brooks/Cuba/Destruction of Government Property, Vehicle Assault on Officers

Robyn Argote Brooks, an illegal alien from Cuba, appeared in federal court after being charged in connection with a Jan. 13 incident in which he allegedly rammed two ICE vehicles in a San Antonio parking lot. Investigators say Brooks reversed at high speed, nearly struck an officer, then crashed into one unmarked ICE vehicle before accelerating forward into a second, injuring ICE Field Office Director Miguel Vergara.​

Homeland Security Investigations San Antonio charged Brooks with destruction of government property, a federal offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted. Video released by authorities shows agents surrounding his car and ordering him to exit before the rammings occur; he was ultimately taken into custody and remains under federal supervision while the case proceeds.
