Rolando Ico-Choc/Guatemala/DUI, Domestic Battery, Endangering The Life Of A Child

Rolando Ico-Choc, a 30-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, killed 61-year-old Darcy Brunner in a head-on collision on August 9. Ico-Choc was driving southbound on Illinois Route 26 when he crossed into the opposing lane, causing the fatal crash. The incident occurred just seven months after he was released from local custody following a seven-day sentence for his most recent DUI conviction.

Authorities revealed that local jurisdictions had previously declined seven separate ICE detainers over three years, despite Ico-Choc’s history of domestic battery, child endangerment, and multiple DUIs.

Acting Field Office Director Shawn Byers criticized these sanctuary policies, stating, “This was not an innocent accident. It was a preventable tragedy made possible by policies that release dangerous offenders back onto our streets.” Byers emphasized that the failure to honor federal requests places innocent citizens at severe risk.
