ICE San Diego arrested Sack Phakonekham, a 50-year-old citizen of Laos and confirmed member of the Asian Crip gang, who is illegally present in the United States. Phakonekham has an extensive criminal record that includes convictions for burglary, assault, drug sales, and driving under the influence, along with additional offenses not yet disclosed publicly. His gang affiliation and repeated criminal activity have made him a target for immigration enforcement.

Phakonekham’s criminal history spans multiple years and jurisdictions, with records showing involvement in violent crimes and illegal drug distribution. His burglary conviction involved unlawfully entering a property with intent to commit theft, while the assault conviction stemmed from a physical attack that resulted in injuries to the victim. His conviction for drug sales highlights his role in the distribution of controlled substances, a crime often linked to organized criminal networks. Multiple DUI offenses also indicate a pattern of reckless disregard for public safety.

Authorities identified Phakonekham through ongoing gang-monitoring operations. Intelligence reports confirmed both his continued criminal involvement and his gang ties, which further elevated the risk assessment associated with his presence in the community. ICE officers planned and executed the arrest to ensure minimal risk to the public and took him into custody without incident.

Phakonekham will remain in federal detention while his immigration case proceeds. If ordered removed, he will be deported to Laos after serving any sentence related to outstanding charges or violations. His removal will be handled in accordance with immigration law, taking into account the severity of his criminal history and his documented gang membership.
