Said Salimitari/Iran/Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Battery, Criminal Threats, DUI
Said Salimitari, a 61-year-old citizen of Iran, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) San Diego on July 17. Salimitari, an illegal alien with a long and violent criminal history, was taken into ICE custody following numerous convictions that span a pattern of serious and repeated offenses. Among his record are convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, battery, criminal threats, and driving under the influence. These charges demonstrate a history of dangerous behavior that has put others at risk and violated public safety standards in the U.S.
ICE officials acted swiftly after local authorities released Salimitari from custody, arresting him due to his criminal past and unlawful immigration status. His presence in the United States has been unauthorized, and he has shown continual disregard for both criminal and immigration law. Salimitari has now been placed in ICE detention and is pending removal proceedings.
Given the severity and repeated nature of his crimes, ICE has deemed him a priority for enforcement. He will remain detained throughout the remainder of his immigration case, and, if ordered removed, will be deported back to Iran. His detention ensures he will no longer pose a threat within U.S. communities.
